Review 2022

news10. January 2023

December

On 07.12.2022 we were allowed to present our emergency case against deportation for professionals in the EHS. As part of the symposium Social Exclusion, Resistance and the Role of Social Work for Refugees, we helped to organise the working table “Saxon deportation practices and the question of social work positioning”. Thank you for the exciting discussion with over 30 professionals from all over Saxony.

We also participated in camp tours in Schneeberg and tested the first information materials. We have noticed: there is an urgent need for multilingual independent information as early as possible in the asylum procedure. We are working on it 😉

November

Together with Seebrücke, Deportation Detention Contact Group and Saxon Refugee Council we organised a demo on 16.11.2023 in Dresden. From the foreigners authority to the deportation prison, we were loud for admission instead of deportation #AufstattAb Thank you for the numerous participation and diverse and strong speeches!!

September

At the next roundtable, the organising group presented the materials that have been developed so far. We are working on 3 emergency cases against deportations for different target groups as well as 9 flyers in several languages on topics such as chances for the right to stay, threatening deportation, dealing with fear of deportation, police in the flat, Dublin procedures, etc.

We also discussed current deportation cases, such as #mohammadbleibt from Leipzig.

We now also have a mailing list: If you want to stay informed, you can sign up at: info@bringbackourneighbours.de – Please give us your name and your relation to the topic (via your main or honorary job, which organisation you work for, etc.) and we will add you to the list.

May

On 11.05.2022 we met for another round table against the Saxon deportation policy. In the meantime, there is an organising group that takes care of regular round tables and the preparation of extensive information material. It consists of full-time and voluntary activists from NGOs in Saxony who are committed to an open society and a humane migration policy in Saxony.

Frank Richter, MdL and member of the Round Table, refers to his new website: www.abschiebung-sachsen.de, where some people who were deported from Saxony are portrayed.

February

The Round Table from Pirna develops into a Saxony-wide alliance. We start a campaign against Saxony’s deportation policy. We demand a turn towards the right to stay instead of deportation at any price. Because even if the Imerlishvili family is back here, brutal deportations from Saxony continue, we won’t accept it any longer!

If you become aware of deportations, please report them to the Saxon Refugee Council, which has started a documentation: deportationwatch.sfrev.de

November 2021

On 8 November 2021, our commitment was awarded the Saxon Prize for Democracy. We want to use the prize money, among other things, to continue to fight together with our partners in a broad alliance against Saxony’s deportation policy. The Imerlishvili family was not an isolated case – we want their return to be just one of many. The Imerlishvili family still does not have a secure residence title, they still have the toleration. We are assuming a good outcome, but of course we are staying tuned!
