How the project came about
In 2021, a family from Pirna was deported. Neighbours, friends and activists joined forces and voiced their outrage. A support group was quickly formed and organised a Saxony-wide ‘Round Table Against Deportation’. As well as extensive media coverage, politicians were contacted and urged to take action, petitions were submitted and donations were collected. In addition, a lawyer specialising in migration law filed several applications on behalf of the family with the Saxon courts. Many people reacted with horror and anger to the family’s deportation.
A neighbour christened the impromptu campaign ‘Bring Back Our Neighbours’.
After 69 days, Saxony had to bring the family back. They are now living in Pirna, Saxony, once again. The main objective had been achieved.
What we offer
During this time, we gathered valuable experience and information. We have used this to create this website, so that more people in Saxony can help to get their neighbours back.
Here you will find leaflets in various languages on specific topics, ranging from asylum procedures to deportation .
You’ll find plenty of contact details for government agencies, courts and advice centres .
There are also application forms available to download .
Together, all these resources make up our “Emergency Kit against Deportations” . This is available in a version for those directly affected and a version for supporters.
If you’d like to print and distribute the leaflets , please feel free to do so: we also provide all the leaflets in a single file that you can download, so that they can be printed on a standard printer.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer advice or provide immediate assistance with ongoing deportations.

We are a small group of volunteers from Saxony and welcome any support and feedback.

- to point out any errors or suggest necessary updates
- to share useful material that we can link to on our website
If you’d like to support us in the long term, we’d be delighted to have your help with translating and updating our content. We’re also looking for help with organising workshops and information sessions, distributing leaflets and networking. And, of course, we’d welcome support with the website’s programming too.
We can train and support you in all these tasks. You don’t need any prior knowledge – we learn from each other. We currently meet 2–3 times a year for a retreat afternoon and, apart from that, briefly online about every two weeks to exchange ideas. At the moment, we mainly communicate in a mix of German and English, but we’ll find a way to accommodate other languages too.
